The Ambre Resort and Spa shadows a 700-metre ribbon of sand on the east coast of Mauritius and is right next to a tropical lagoon. A huge pool – edged with a trio of restaurants – takes centre stage.

Facilities
You won’t be short of things to do at this place – it’s got a long list of water-based activities that include glass-bottom boat trips, kayaking and windsurfing, plus there’s a roomy pool. The first-rate spa and fitness centres have massages and yoga classes on offer, too. Evenings are usually spent in the restaurants or at the lively pool bar
WHAT’S BELLE MARE LIKE?
Set on the sheltered east coast of Mauritius, Belle Mare is a small place with a big reputation. Its headline act is the white-sand beach – one of the loveliest on the island. But it’s got plenty more show-stopping turns. There’s a coral-protected lagoon, golf, watersports and loads of restaurants peeping through the bank of trees by the shoreline. With a package this good, it’s easy to see why a bunch of high-end hotels are happy to call this place home
Rooms
Rooms are modern, with bright accent colours, and all come with flatscreen satellite TVs, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities and a minibar. A standard double room sleeps 2 and some have a view of the garden, or limited sea view rooms are available to book. Upgrade to a superior room, and you’ll get a more spacious pad that’s closer to the sea.
