Well-equipped hotel with stellar sea views
If you’re after peaceful surroundings close to bubbly Albufeira, the Cerro Mar Atlantico Apartments will tick all your boxes. This Portuguese-style hotel is in a slightly raised position overlooking the terracotta rooftops of the town centre and the golden, sandy beach. You get the added bonus of a free shuttle bus to whisk you there and back several times a day.
The hotel goes big on the facilities front. There are a whopping 10 swimming pools snaking through the resort – five of which are just for little ones. And they’re all cocooned by tropical gardens. Three waterside bars take care of snacks and cold drinks, and one shows live sports on a big screen. At mealtimes, the Monte Verde restaurant serves a mix of a la carte and buffet-style cuisine – think international favourites with local speciality dishes. As for the Al-hamma Spa, this is the place to head for indulgent treatments like the chocolate body wrap.
Tennis, darts, snooker and squash are all on offer here, plus there’s a bowling alley for family games. The evening entertainment, meanwhile, encompasses shows, live music and quizzes.
