Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Beijing
Overnight flight from London (regional connections available) direct to Beijing with British Airways. Please speak to your travel consultant to discuss alternative flight options. (N)
Day 2: Beijing
Arrive and transfer to the Novotel Peace Hotel for 3 nights. Afternoon at leisure. A welcome dinner will be held this evening. (D)
Day 3: Beijing
Morning visit to the key historic sites of Tiananmen Square and the adjacent Forbidden City. After lunch, visit one of Beijing’s traditional hutong neighbourhoods. (B)
Day 4: Great Wall
Full-day excursion to the Great Wall at Mutianyu, a scenic section of the wall located north of Beijing. (B, L)
Day 5: Xian
Morning at leisure. Afternoon high-speed train journey to Xian, then transfer to the Grand Noble Xian Hotel for a 2-night stay. (B, L)
Day 6: Terracotta Warriors • Xian
Morning excursion to the legendary Terracotta Warriors, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon visit to the city’s atmospheric Muslim Quarter and the Great Mosque. Optional evening performance of Tang Dynasty show. (B, L)
Day 7: To Nanjing
Morning high-speed train to the city of Nanjing, then stay overnight at the Grand Trustel Mandarin Garden. Afternoon tour to visit Ming Xiaoling, the mausoleum of the Hongwu Emperor, founder of the Ming Dynasty; the imposing Zhonghua city gate; and the Confucius Temple. (B)
Day 8: To Shanghai
Morning visit to the Memorial Hall of the Nanjing Massacre, then continue to Ming Xiaoling for a further visit. Afternoon high-speed train to Shanghai. Stay at the Merry Hotel for 2 nights. (B)
Day 9: Shanghai
Morning visit to the Jade Buddha Temple, the Yu Garden, and a walk along the historic Bund. (B)
Day 10: Fly to London
Transfer to the airport and fly back to London. (B)
