Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Catania – Syracuse
Fly from London (regional connections available) to Catania with British Airways. Transfer to Syracuse and stay at Grande Albergo Alfeo for 2 nights. Enjoy a welcome drink. (N)
Day 2: Syracuse – Noto
Tour of Syracuse, including visits to the Greek theatre, the Ear of Dionysius, and the island of Ortygia. Continue to Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage city renowned for its magnificent Baroque architecture. (B)
Day 3: Catania – Cefalù – Palermo
Morning drive to Catania to see the cathedral and Piazza Stesicoro. Continue to Cefalù to visit the Norman cathedral with its exquisite mosaics. Arrive in Palermo and stay at Hotel Principe di Villa Franca for 2 nights. (B)
Day 4: Monreale – Palermo
Morning visit to Monreale to explore the Norman cathedral, a masterpiece of Norman-Arab architecture. Return to Palermo for a city tour, including the grand Arab-Norman cathedral, the Palatine Chapel, and the historic old town. In the afternoon, enjoy a street food experience, discovering how Palermo’s cuisine has been shaped by its rich history. (B)
Day 5: Erice – Selinunte – Agrigento
Visit the medieval hilltop town of Erice, with its imposing fortified walls and breathtaking views. Continue to Selinunte to explore the impressive ancient Greek temples. Stop at Grammatico, a world-famous pastry shop, for marzipan and biscuit tasting. Drive to Agrigento and stay overnight at Hotel Dioscuri Bay Palace (Superior room). (B)
Day 6: Valley of the Temples – Piazza Armerina – Taormina
Morning visit to the Valley of the Temples, one of the most significant ancient Greek sites. In the afternoon, drive to Taormina via Piazza Armerina to see the stunning Roman mosaics at Villa Romana del Casale. Stay 2 nights at Hotel Caparena (or similar). (B)
Day 7: Mount Etna – Taormina
Visit Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, for spectacular views. Stop at Barone di Villagrande for wine tasting. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Taormina. (B)
