Daios Cove has a cool and sophisticated vibe, and a child-friendly private sandy beach whose shallow waters are great for families. The infinity pool – heated all summer – is surrounded by a sun terrace providing glorious views of the private cove. And there’s even a funicular-style lift or golf buggies to take you back to your room.
For dining, the open-air Beach House is located in a scenic private cove and plays breezy chill-out tunes against a backdrop of the waves. Food here is seasonal and locally grown and cocktails are inspired by the sun-drenched coastline and flora of Crete.
Pangea is the main buffet-style restaurant. The atmospheric Taverna is great for Greek and à la carte dishes with a view while for poolside fine dining, Ocean is a great spot. The 2020 menu here has been designed by the team at Ducasse Conseil, with dishes inspired by the sea and land.
You can dine inside an elegant dining room or out on the sun dappled terrace with its earth textures and stone walls. Once dinner is over, head to the Ocean Poolside Lounge where there are DJ nights and other live events.
The lounge has a wonderful menu of cocktails created by the award-winning masterminds behind The Clumsies, one of the world’s best bars. And with the dine-around Half Board option, guests can enjoy meals at the main buffet-style restaurant, or take advantage of a set credit at the three à la carte restaurants.
The Deluxe Rooms have a sea view and you can upgrade to room with a private pool. For a luxurious family escape, the two-storey Two Bedroom Family Villa has two en suite bathrooms and a private pool and is set up perfectly for those with young children, meaning you can travel light. Book a Junior Suite room type or higher to enjoy Residents’ Club benefits like meals, selected drinks and ice cream for kids.

What’s nearby? Despite its peaceful setting, Daios Cove is brilliantly placed for exploring Crete’s north-east coast. The pretty fishing village of Elounda is a 20-minute drive away, where you can catch a boat to the mysterious island of Spinalonga, or grab a bite in one of the rustic waterfront tavernas. Cosmopolitan Agios Nikolaos is even closer – the city is a blend of designer boutiques, cocktail bars and upscale restaurants.
Tried and tested This resort is great for a first holiday with your baby or toddler. Order a Baby Kit and the resort will provide a bottle warmer, steriliser, baby bath, highchair and buggy – meaning you can travel light.
The sleeping arrangements Daios Cove offers rooms, suites and villas with spectacular views and contemporary, luxe interiors. For families, the Premium Suites feature cleverly devised pull-out beds and lounge sofas to comfortably sleep up to five. For larger groups, we’d recommend the two or three-bed Family Villas, which provide beautiful sea views and boast a private pool and sundeck area.
