Itinerary
Day 1: UK to Catania
Fly to Catania and meet your fellow travellers over a drink and dinner this evening.
Day 2: Taormina
Mount Etna, Europe’s tallest active volcano, is a must-see. If you opt for the excursion, you’ll journey up in a cable car and possibly take a 4×4 tour higher up the volcano with an Alpine guide. Later, visit a traditional farm with a vineyard and 900 beehives, tasting honey, olive oil, olives, vegetable pâté, and three wines. In the afternoon, visit the Greco-Roman theatre in Taormina, perched on a cliff overlooking beautiful bays.
Day 3: Syracuse
Explore Syracuse, focusing on the historic old town of Ortigia and the magnificent Greek theatre carved into the hillside.
Day 4: Piazza Armerina
Visit Villa del Casale, a 4th-century Roman villa boasting the richest collection of Roman mosaics in the world. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient luxury.
Day 5: Monreale & Palermo
Visit the Monreale Cathedral, one of the best examples of Norman architecture, featuring stunning golden mosaics. Then, head to Palermo, Sicily’s lively capital. Enjoy a street food experience, sampling arancine (rice balls), chickpea fritters, potato croquettes, and sfincione (Sicilian pizza).
Day 6: Campofelice Di Roccella – at leisure
Explore the ancient town of Agrigento on an optional excursion. Discover the Valley of the Temples, with highlights like the Temple of Concord and the massive Temple of Zeus.
Day 7: Cefalù
Visit Cefalù, a scenic seaside town with sandy beaches and the stunning Norman cathedral, home to early Byzantine mosaics. Later, join your travelling companions for a farewell get-together.
Day 8: Catania to UK
Transfer to Catania airport for your return flight to the UK.
