Ischia
Ischia is an example of island life done the Italian way. Its the biggest island in the Bay of Naples, laying out medieval castles, clifftop botanical gardens, sandy beaches, hot springs and lively harbour towns along its coastline.
The centre of the island is another story altogether. Here, Mount Epomeo scrapes the clouds. Hikers tackle its sloping walking trails, which wander past caves and pine-green forests. Youll even find the occasional vineyard clinging to the rocky slopes usually family-run affairs with swooping views over the Bay of Naples.
What to see on an Ischia holiday
You can make a holiday to Ischia as relaxed or adventurous as you like. We love hiking up in the mountain – there are some great trails with amazing sea views and when you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the whole island. Don’t worry if you’d rather take it easy though – the coastal routes are just as nice with the added bonus of being able to stop for a coffee or wine as you go.
Other highlights include hopping across to the little island of Procida, relaxing on a sandy beach or heading to one of the many thermal spas for a bit of pampering.
