This new centre-based tour reveals the best of this unspoiled island, as well as giving you a day to explore Athens, including the famous Acropolis and adjoining museum. Luxury Group Tour in briefDay 1: Fly to Athens Take a morning flight from London (regional connections available) to Athens with Aegean Air. Transfer to Negroponte Resort (or similar) for the durations of the tour. Welcome dinner. (D) Day 2: Tour of Chalkida Enjoy a morning guided walking tour of Chalkida, the main town on the island, including the historic old town, the 19th-century Red House and the Town Hall. Spend some free time amidst the charming cafes and restaurants of the waterfront before returning to the hotel. (B, D) Day 3: Sailing in the Strait of Evia After transferring to port, board a sailing boat for a day of cruising on the Strait of Evia a fantastic way to explore the narrow channel joining Evia to mainland Greece. There is time to stop at one of the quiet coves for swimming. Snacks and drinks are served on board. (B, D) Day 4: Day at leisure Spend a free day enjoying the facilities of the Negroponte Resort or discovering more of the area, perhaps by visiting the Archaeological Museum of Eretria or the mainlands Amphiaraion Archaeological Site. Evia is also famous for hiking due to its rugged, mountainous interior; guides for day hiking can be arranged locally. (B, D) Day 5: Wine Tour, Tasting & Lunch Evia is among the nations various winegrowing regions, and today is your chance to sample some of the celebrated local produce. During your visit to a nearby winery, taste three wines before helping to prepare traditional meze dishes for your lunch. (B, L, D) Day 6: Athens During a full-day excursion to the Greek capital one of the worlds most historic cities visit the Parthenon and Museum, Panathenaic Stadium and the temple of Athena Nike. Afterwards, enjoy a short class in preparing the perfect Greek coffee at a local coffee shop, followed by time at leisure. Return to Evia early evening.
