Africa’s annual race for life plays out on the great plains of Kenya and Tanzania, as over two million wildebeest, gazelle and zebra migrate from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara. We map the course of the migration, staying in safari lodges and tented camps to get unrivalled access to unparalleled wildlife viewing. Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive & Join Your Tour Group

Meet your fellow travelers at the hotel.

Day 2 – Amboseli National Park

Travel to Amboseli National Park, known for its free-roaming elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. After lunch, embark on your first game drive.

Day 3 – Game Drives & Maasai Culture

Early morning and late afternoon game drives to spot the Big Five. In between, enjoy a talk on the Maasai tribes and relax at the camp.

Day 4 – Cross into Tanzania

Enjoy a final game drive in Amboseli before crossing into Tanzania. Stop for lunch in Arusha, then continue to the Northern Highlands, staying in a thatched-roof hotel surrounded by coffee plantations.

Day 5 – Ngorongoro Crater Safari

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Enjoy a wilderness picnic and search for cheetah, hyena, and the endangered black rhino.

Day 6 – Olduvai Gorge & Serengeti

Visit Olduvai Gorge, a UNESCO-listed site known as the ‘Cradle of Mankind,’ before heading into the Serengeti on your first game drive. Stay in a luxury tented camp with views across the plains.

Day 7 – The Great Migration & Game Drives

Explore the Serengeti on two game drives, spotting lion, rhino, cheetah, giraffe, and buffalo. Learn about the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest travel in search of greener pastures.

Day 8 – Lake Victoria

Take a final game drive in the Serengeti before traveling to the shores of Lake Victoria. Enjoy an afternoon of relaxation at an eco-resort, with options for birdwatching or spa treatments.

Day 9 – Maasai Mara National Reserve

Cross back into Kenya and journey to the world-famous Maasai Mara, stopping for a picnic lunch and wildlife spotting along the way.

Day 10 – Safari in the Maasai Mara

Enjoy two game drives in the Maasai Mara, home to the highest density of lions in the world, along with cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and rhinos.

Day 11 – Nairobi & Giraffe Centre

Travel back to Nairobi for lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the Giraffe Centre, a conservation project focused on Rothschild giraffes, before returning to your hotel.

Day 12 – Sheldrick Wildlife Trust & Departure

Visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Orphanage, a sanctuary for rescued elephants and rhinos. After a final lunch, say goodbye to your group and continue with your onward travel.
