Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – UK to Istanbul

Your holiday begins with a nationwide shared chauffeur service collecting you from home for your flight to Turkey. On arrival in Istanbul, we transfer to our hotel and enjoy our first evening in this historic city.

Day 2 – Istanbul City Tour

A full-day guided tour introduces the sights and sounds of Istanbul. We visit Sultanahmet Meydanı, once the social heart of Constantinople, and admire the iconic Blue Mosque.
Next, we descend into the atmospheric Sunken Cistern, supported by more than 300 columns, before ending the day at the vibrant Grand Bazaar, the world’s oldest covered market with almost 4,000 shops.

Day 3 – Imperial Istanbul & Free Time

We begin with a visit to the elegant Süleymaniye Mosque, considered the city’s finest imperial mosque.
At the Egyptian Spice Bazaar, spices and teas have been traded since the 17th century, and there’s time to explore at leisure.
Later, we tour the UNESCO-listed Topkapı Palace Museum, once home to Ottoman sultans and now filled with priceless treasures.
The afternoon is free to explore independently or join an optional Bosphorus cruise.

Day 4 – Istanbul to Gallipoli & Çanakkale

We travel along the Sea of Marmara to the Gallipoli Peninsula. Our guided tour covers the moving First World War sites of Cape Helles, Suvla Bay, and Anzac Cove, with expert commentary throughout.
We then cross the Dardanelles Strait to Çanakkale.

Day 5 – Troy, Bergama & Kuşadası

Today’s journey takes us to the legendary Troy, where we explore 4,000 years of history brought to life in Homer’s Iliad.
In Bergama, we split into small groups to enjoy a home-cooked lunch with local families, before visiting the ancient city of Pergamon, famous for its acropolis and dramatic theatre.
We continue south to Kuşadası.

Day 6 – Kuşadası (Free Day)

A full day at leisure to relax after several busy touring days. Explore Kuşadası independently, unwind at your hotel, or speak to your tour manager about optional excursions.

Day 7 – Ephesus, Selçuk & Pamukkale

We visit the UNESCO-protected Ephesus Archaeological Site, one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the world. Highlights include the Celsus Library, mosaicked streets, and chariot-wheel ruts.
We also stop at the House of the Virgin Mary, believed to be her final home.
Lunch is a picnic in the gardens of a local cooperative in Selçuk, with time to see traditional carpet weaving before continuing to Pamukkale and its famous white travertine terraces.

Day 8 – Pamukkale to Konya

After a final look at Pamukkale’s travertine pools, we journey to Konya, stopping en route at the Mevlana Museum, dedicated to the 13th-century poet and mystic Rumi.

Day 9 – Konya to Cappadocia

Crossing the plains of Central Anatolia, we stop at the impressive Sultanhan Caravanserai, built in 1229 on the ancient Silk Road.
Arriving in Cappadocia, we finish the day at Pasabag (Monks Valley), home to the region’s most famous fairy chimneys.

Day 10 – Cappadocia

Early risers can take part in an optional hot-air balloon flight, floating above Cappadocia’s valleys at sunrise.
Later, we visit the Göreme Open Air Museum, followed by Kaymaklı Underground City, and end the day with a pottery demonstration in a local cave studio.
