Yvonne’s Trip to Club Med’s Magna Marbella
Welcome to Club Meds newest addition. At last, after many tries, Magna Marbella is now officially open! I was lucky enough to get on the short flight to Malaga and enjoy 2 nights at this beautiful property set at the foot of the Sierra Blanca Mountains. As always a warm welcome awaits at the airport with a big stand just as you leave passport control ready to pick you up and get your holiday started as soon as you step off that plane. The journey from the airport takes about 45 minutes which is quickly forgotten about by the wonderful reception you receive when you arrive at the resort, followed by a smooth check-in and an introduction to the GOs you will be meeting during your stay. Room keys no longer exist here instead you receive a wristband for the duration of your stay saving that extra stress of constantly losing your room key!
The rooms are bright and spacious, with stylish decor which gives you the classic Spanish relaxing vibe and a fully furnished balcony which means I could comfortably enjoy the fascinating views on offer in my 8th-floor Sea View room. Our bathroom was the same with two vanity sinks and a huge shower with all the usual amenities such as hairdryers, shampoo, and lotions for a full pamper session. In your room, we had two single comfy beds with strong working Wi-Fi and television as well as complimentary tea and coffee with a minibar included.
So after taking in the views and unpacking my bag, I went for a personal tour to see what this resort really has to offer!
The grounds are well maintained, compact and really easy to get around which makes the resort, even more, relaxing especially if travelling with kids. You have plenty of options when it comes to facilities, with five different swimming pools to choose from including a children’s pool with a water games area which the kids would love, an indoor pool which is located next to the spa a perfect place to chill if the weather isn’t up to scratch, along with this you can escape the kids at the Zen swimming pool which is reserved for adults only and finally the Lagoon swimming pool which is hard to miss being the largest pool at the resort sat right in the centre, you will also be able to take part in the daily aquaerobics if your feeling active.
On top of swimming, there are enough activities to keep you going for weeks here at Magna, with brand-new tennis courts at the rear of the resort, and also the growing ever so popular sport padel on offer which if you aren’t that clued up on you can join the included group lessons or try work it out for yourself. Golf is also available here with access to a driving range, practice bunker or putting green as well a selection of surrounding high-quality golf courses which can be played with an added fee.
Along with this for the more adventurous visitors, you or the kids can partake in the flying trapeze, circus school or archery. Team sports also take place most evenings which is a great way to meet fellow guests or again let the kids make new friends in the football, basketball or volleyball games.
Night-time entertainment takes place most nights and is very popular with children as well as adults, whilst I was there it just happened to be money heist-themed proving just how creative the team at Club Med are.
Food as normal is excellent as expected on a Club Med holiday. There is a large buffet restaurant available for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a different theme every night spanning from traditional Spanish tapas to Japanese ramen to cater for all tastes and needs. On top of this, you get your standard options if you want to play it safe, all up to a very high standard. If you want a more gourmet experience head to the Tierra Lounge where you can taste the best of the local cuisine and wine with an on-demand wine-tasting experience from their on-site wine cellar which is highly recommended.
Club Med also offer incredible excursions to the surrounding areas and thanks to the location of this resort the options are at a very high standard, try to get to the stunning city of Granada located up at the heights of the Sierra Nevada, and expect a traditional Andalucian city with Arabic influence – one of the most beautiful places I have been.
All in all, for either a great family holiday or an energetic stay Magna Marbella is ideal for all.
