Brendans Trip to Neilsons Vounaki BeachClub
Travelling from London Gatwick I headed off to Paleros on my first Neilsons Fam Trip for three nights at the Vounaki Beach Club Resort. After a mere two and a half hour flight I landed to be greeted by the friendly faces of the Neilsons staff after a 40 minute transfer we arrived at our resort and home for the next two days.
Staying in the club class rooms you get a lovely air conditioned room loads of space and a great shower room with a a big balcony with enough room to sunbathe on, I highly recommend getting a sea view as the views of the bay really are amazing. (especially at sun rise and sun set) Other rooms on offer are the Club Sea view Mezzanine rooms which offer a split level open plan design with loads of space and bunk beds perfect for children. Or if you really want to treat yourself there is the Sea View Suites with a living room and a balcony or terrace with the best views Greece can offer!
The next day after having breakfast over looking the beach and pool we had our welcome meeting in which we were told of all the activities and events happening for the up and coming week. From wind surfing to tennis there was so many activities to keep you going for the duration of your stay, with at least two people on each desk it really gave you the impression that they really are experts at the activities they have on offer. I fancied the cycling, windsurfing, kayaking and paddle boarding so signed on my desired times and off I went down to the beach to relax before my first activity which was paddle boarding. The equipment matches the expert level tution in quality and quantity – the bikes really stood out to me as you get both the options of road bikes as well as mountain bikes to either go on a guided tour of the island or to take out at your leisure, I did both with some amazing coastal bike rides as well as a pretty challenging mountain bike ride to follow making it the perfect holiday if you are into your cycling! The sailing on offer is a very high quality considering its all included in the price with a number of lessons available giving you a start towards gaining your RYA sailing licences with both theory and practical lessons available. Along with this theres still water skiing, wind surfing, kayaking, scuba diving and wake boarding all allowing you to really explore the beautiful coastline and sea. The tennis lessons on offer throughout the day from beginner to expert levels with again a good quality of equipment on offer so no need to pack your racket. Or join in with a number of fitness classes through out the day from Zumba to Aquasize along with the gym which is sure to get you fit. If you are looking to relax after your activities the spa is to die for with a number of amazing treatments available all with an amazing view of the sea which is sure to help you in relaxing on your holiday.
If you are travelling with children Im sure like you they will be loving the activities on offer, however if you need some time away from the kids the kids club on offer looked amazing – with a number of enthusiastic staff on offer all working on keeping the kids happy and entertained through out the day. The kids will get the spend time in the new modern kids club which had plenty of space and activities to keep them entertained as well as a huge swimming pool and obviously copious amounts of activities on the beach.
The food Neilson provided was also very impressive with a lovely eating area overlooking the resort with plenty of space for all the guests so you wont need to worry about getting a table the included food was a wide variation of fresh local sourced food in buffet form with salad, meats, seafood and lots more. They also have themed nights such a BBQs taking place on the beach with a selection of tasty food from king prawns to halloumi cheese Im sure your taste buds will be kept happy. If you want to venture into town for some variation its only a ten minute walk into the quaint village of Paleros which provides a number of lovely restaurants and bars open until late for those looking for a drink or two.
If your really into your sailing and adventure then they also offer a stay and sail option in which you Stay and Sail this combines the two with a week at the beach club with a week on board one of the one of the fleets of yachts Neilsons have on offer.
Overall the Vounaki Beachclub really does live up to Neilsons high standards and is suitable for those looking for a relaxing break in the Greek islands or an activity holiday perfect for keeping fit or learning new skills to bring home and I cant recommend it highly enough!
