The Empire State Building and other NYC must-see sights
The Empire State Building is the highest building in New York with one of the best views of the city from the top floor. Dont believe us? You will get the opportunity to compare views with that of the Chrysler Building, the Rockefeller Centre and The New York Public Library as well. Other great views can be experienced from the USAs own symbol of freedom and democracy; the Statue of Liberty which overlooks New York Harbour and from the Brooklyn Bridge, from which you can see a panorama of lower Manhattan.
Central Park and other green areas
New York City is a famous for being a densely urban place, but that doesnt mean its not possible to escape the concrete and tarmac. Central Park is one of the most famous and largest green spaces, with its tree-lined paths and wide lawns. In the Summer its full of sunbathers enjoying picnics and in Winter its a haven for ice skaters. Joggers can be spotted circling the park at any time of year. Prospect Park is also great for its wooded walks and various lakes, but for more diverse plant life, why not take a stroll around the New York Botanical Garden.
Youll find plenty to amuse you in Manhattan. When youve seen the sights, eaten a hot dog and visited the museums and galleries: the Natural History Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Guggenheim and Metropolitan Museum, you might fancy hitting the shops. Macys and Bloomingdales are the big names in department stores but the city is full of hip, chic fashionable boutiques where you can buy just about anything. For everything else, theres the Brooklyn Fleamarket, a veritable trove of exciting treasures. Known as the city that never sleeps, youll probably want to experience some of New Yorks infamous nightlife during your stay. Even if you dont want to take in a show on Broadway, a concert at Radio City Music Hall or a sporting event at one of the various well known venues, a trip to Times Square, all lit up at night is a must. Youll also find plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, serving cuisine from all over the world.
