Our Brenner Pass tour takes in highlights from four countries and five magnificent cities, including Munich, Cologne, Innsbruck, Verona and Lausanne on the shores of Lake Geneva. As you travel from Italy into Austria, via the historic Brenner Pass, you’ll enjoy magnificent scenery, passing the wonderful Dolomite Mountains.
Itinerary
Day 1
London to Cologne
Depart St Pancras by Eurostar to Brussels, then join the high speed train to Cologne. Perhaps begin your exploration of Cologne by visiting its Gothic Dom – the famous twin-spired cathedral that dominates the city’s skyline. Next, maybe head to the Old Town to discover gems such as the Roman church of Great St. Martin and the historic Town Hall.
Day 2
Cologne to Munich
Today you’ll take the train south to Munich – often said to be Germany’s most pleasant city. A great place to start is at the city’s lively main square where you’ll find the Neo-Gothic New Town Hall and the famous Glockenspiel.
Day 3
Discover Munich
Perhaps take a guided tour to see some of Munich’s most famous attractions including the Palace of Nymphenburg and the impressive Olympic Park. Alternatively, head to the delightful English Garden or explore the Viktualien market.
Day 4
Munich to Innsbruck
Today take the train from Munich into Austria and the wonderful city of Innsbruck. Begin your exploration of Innsbruck by visiting some of the city’s noted landmarks including the beautiful Renaissance Ambras Castle.
Day 5
Innsbruck
Perhaps spend today relaxing in Innsbruck’s Old Town. The charming Medieval square is painted in charming pastel colours and has a wide choice of shops and restaurants.
Day 6
Innsbruck to Verona
Today cross the border from Austria into Italy via the Brenner Pass, admiring the splendid Dolomite mountains as you travel towards Verona. Home of star-crossed lovers, world famous opera, and magnificent architecture, Verona is a city that really stirs the senses.
Day 7
Exploring Verona
Today you could choose to take a guided walking tour to discover some of Verona’s key landmarks including the magnificent Arena and the city’s most romantic landmark – Juliet’s balcony.
Day 8
Verona to Lausanne
Leaving Italy today, you’ll travel to Lausanne. With its idyllic position on beautiful Lake Geneva, this medieval city is a joy to explore.
Day 9
Lausanne to London
Today travel by train to Paris Gare de Lyon, where you transfer to Gare du Nord and connect for the Eurostar to London.
