Itinerary Details

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN SARLAT

Arrive in Toulouse or Carcassonne by flight, or travel by train via Paris to Souillac. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your three-star superior hotel, Relais de la Moussidière, near the picturesque town of Sarlat for a four-night stay with dinner. Enjoy the evening at leisure, exploring this stunning medieval town.

DAY 2: SARLAT

Sarlat, dating back to Charlemagne’s time, is an architectural gem. The town is built from the region’s golden stone and boasts 13th-century buildings and narrow alleys, making it one of the most well-preserved towns in France. On your guided tour, explore the town’s lively market, where locals gather to sample cheeses, charcuterie, and vegetables. In the afternoon, visit Lascaux Caves, home to prehistoric cave art dating back 17,000 years. DAY 3: ROCAMADOUR & MARQUEYSSAC GARDENS

DAY 4: BEYNAC & LA ROQUE-GAGEAC

Visit the fortified Beynac village, perched high above the Dordogne River. Explore the cobbled streets and medieval architecture before moving on to La Roque-Gageac, a stunning riverside village. Here, take a traditional gabare boat ride, once used for transporting wine along the river.

DAY 5: CAHORS

Leave the Dordogne behind and travel south to Cahors, home to the 14th-century Valentré Bridge that spans the River Lot. The surrounding countryside gradually changes from rolling green slopes to golden, sunflower-filled fields as you head toward your next destination. You’ll stay three nights with breakfast and one dinner in Carcassonne.

DAY 6: CARCASSONNE

Explore the medieval citadel of Carcassonne, a fairy-tale town with its turrets, ramparts, and narrow cobbled streets. On your guided tour, discover the ancient city’s rich history, from its Roman origins to its medieval transformation. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to wander the citadel at your leisure.

DAY 7: ALBI

Travel to Albi, a city known for its brick architecture and the stunning Albi Cathedral, one of the largest brick buildings in the world. The cathedral’s interior, with its breathtaking Last Judgement mural, is a must-see.
