Youll love this award-winning resort, set deep in 570 acres of olive groves and countryside on Sicilys south-west coast which has been sensitively created using local materials and influenced by traditional architecture. Theres over a mile of private coastline to enjoy but the distance is no problem just hop on one of the many bikes youll spot around the complex.

Golfers are spoilt for choice; there are three championship 18-hole golf courses, a 9-hole course, putting greens and a driving range to keep you busy, plus a Clubhouse with a golf shop and restaurant. Off the green, brush up on your serve at the tennis academy or have a game on the six clay courts.

There are four restaurants and five bars to keep the dining options varied. At Zagara, celebrity chef Fulvio Pierangelini showcases the best of Mediterranean cuisine, while at beachfront Amare, the chefs barbecue the freshest fish, seafood and meats right in front of you.

Rooms are designed in fresh Sicilian style, feature a four-poster bed and youll always have an unrestricted sea view. Deluxe Rooms are on the first floor and have

Whats nearby? The Verdura Resort is in a secluded countryside setting, which is all part of its appeal. Theres a sandy beach just footsteps away, and an 18-hole championship golf course that neighbours the hotel. The pretty waterfront town of Sciacca is a 15-minute drive away, and its 40 minutes from Agrigento, an ancient site full of amazing Greek temples.

Tried and tested Families can learn how to make Sicilian pizza and pasta at the resorts culinary school*. There are also adults-only sessions, where guests can learn from expert mixologists, and try fine wine tasting with the resorts sommelier.

The sleeping arrangements The rooms, suites and villas were designed by renowned interiors specialist, Olga Polizzi. For the dcor, inspiration was drawn from the Sicilian landscape, and all room types feature four-poster beds, spacious terraces and sea views. For families we recommend the Villas, which sleep up to nine people and come with private pools and courtyards. Villa guests also have a local island expert assigned to them.
