Costa Rica

Costa Rica in January is considered the best time to go. Although it is peak season you experience the dry and mild weather, which is quite rare in this part of the world. Many people flock to Costa Rica for it’s weird and wonderful wildlife in which you can only find on this tiny country located in Central America. Expect to see howler monkeys screeching from the treetops. birds of every variety of colours such as toucans, greenfishers and blue herons. If your super lucky you may spot the endangered green macaw and the infamous three toed sloth. Delve into the river beds and watch the otters and caiman that frequently hunt for their dinner in the watery marsh lands.
Thrill seekers love to visit Costa Rica as it is home to a number of rivers. Running through the Turrialba Valley in which are perfect for white water rafting. Take a thrilling ride through the forest past crystalline waterfalls and let’s not forget about the wildlife. If your more of a land lover then visit one of the many adventure parks here with zip lines and suspended bridge walks allowing you to experience the jungles from a whole new perspective.
National Parks
Costa Rica is also home to one of the worlds biggest active volcanoes. The Arenal Volcano sits in the north west of the country and its peak is at 1,633 metres high. It can take up to half a day to climb to the top in which you get stunning views of the thick luscious surrounding landscapes, so pack your hiking boots. There’s a number of protected national parks scattered around in which possess natural beauty which can’t be found anywhere else.
Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio is known for it’s jagged rain forest, golden beaches and colorful coral reefs i is also home to a diverse set of tropical plans and birds as well as the white faced capuchin monkeys. Corcovado National Park is another popular destination for wild life lovers as here you will potentially spot scarlet macaws, tapirs, jaguars and squirrel monkeys, enjoy a hike along the coast via some secret beaches and rugged marshlands. Parque Nacional Tortuguero is the place to go if you are after seeing some turtles, this park is famed for having turtles nest on its many beaches, take a boat through the jungle and the parks windy fresh water streams.

Tanzania
January is the start of the low season in Tanzania so it might seem a strange time to visit, it is also wedged in between two of the wetter months of the year. However with this rain comes an added bonus, in the south of the country you can experience one of the worlds most magnificent occasions – The Wildebeest Migration. January is considered the best month to see wildlife around Serengeti in particular with new life flocking to the water holes for you to admire.

Hunting along side each other you can see lions in their prides competing with packs of hyenas to get their feed on.
National Parks
Visit one of the worlds natural wonders in Mount Kilimanjaro and climb to the top of Africa if you can reach it’s 5896m peak. Gaze at the magnificent snow capped sitting on the worlds equator. Enjoy the surrounding rain forest home to more wildlife sitting at the bottom of the mountain. If you are into adventure you can climb to the summit without the ropes or a lot of climbing experience making it very popular with hikers who travel far and wide to conquer the mountain.
You can also visit a number of other more isolated national parks such as Katavi National Parkfamous for the large population of hippos who gather by the hundreds. It is also home to over 400 different species of birds. During the dry seasons zebras, elephants, giraffes and many more weird and wonderful creatures. Another favourite is the Tarangire National Park in which boasts the largest concentration of elephants in the world, with around 700 lions around the park making sightings very common.
